Those of you who think football is better need to pull your heads out of your butts. Baseball has been here since 1847 and major league play started in 1871. You think football is better because the season is shorter and is much easier to follow. Don’t get me wrong, I love football. It’s just that baseball has left its mark on our country. Look at what our country’s been through since that faithful May 4, 1871 when the Fort Wayne Kekiongas defeated the Cleveland Forest City 2-0. We have been through war 5 different times, had 17 different presidents, went through a depression, and discovered 2 new planets. The only thing that has been constant and kept all of us together was that great game we call baseball. We dropped atomic bombs on 2 Japanese cities and baseball held us together. The game has given America its real freedom. You don’t have to like it, you only have to respect it and imagine what America would be without it today.

It is my belief that baseball has seen its day. Football is much more entertaining and spectacular. Not too mention more exciting. Though I do admit, baseball is the only sport where one can fall asleep for an hour and not miss a thing. That has certain advantages.

Unfortunately I’d say football is more in tune with the American psyche. Americans love the win at all cost mentality. With baseball and it’s 162game season you expect to lose a couple and that’s unAmerican to accept the fact that you will lose. That’s why every year the perfect season in football is talked about.
Personally I’ve grown love baseball because it keeps me calm. :)

  4. Football is definitely more exciting.

  5. Baseball is America’s favorite Pasttime.

  6. both are important. Football is the late fall and winter sport Baseball is the Spring Summer and Early fall sport.

  7. lethoria says:

    football first.
    then baseball
then a close call between baketball and hocky

  8. wrepete1 says:

They say that football is the more popular of the two. But baseball is the American Pastime, and resonates to a larger degree with me. To each his own, I guess. Thanks.

chicagoflip deserves the 10 points! What a wonderful answer! Baseball goes with America like apple pie does.

BASEBALL IS NUMBER 1. IT IS THE AMERICAN SPORT. WE DO LOVE FOOTBALL ALSO.

  12. No baseball doesn’t compare to football. being the big baseball fan i am, football requires more athletisism and it’s more exciting.
I have one thing left to say…..I am a die hard red sox fan so……

    Eh, I’m not sure.
Baseball is america’s pasttime, its a tradition here. Started here, thrives here.
Football on the other hand is becoming HUGE. Of course it garners more of an audience for its games..They only play 16 in a regular season. Baseball has 162 games so of course it will get less of an audience each time theyre is a game on.
